France, Apr-May 2022 (4): Homeward bound

Our return home is much the same as the journey out, but in reverse as you would expect; …we stay overnight in Caen, before catching the ferry back to the UK, the following morning. This means that if we get away from the house promptly, we have time to visit somewhere en-route. This time, we chose to visit the small city of Sées, in southern Normandy.

Sées

Sées Centre

The city is very small, with just a few shops along a couple of streets, but there are some very old and interesting buildings.

Opposite the cathedral, in the central square, there is a Brocante with some interesting stock, presented in an unusual way:

The cathedral can be seen for miles and is immediately identifiable as it has two identical spires.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Sées

There are some very ornate ceiling details:

Before going to the hotel for the night, we had a picnic in Falaise with the following view:

Portsmouth

With a quiet crossing the following morning, we docked in Portsmouth on time at 1.15pm.
