North Yorkshire (4): Bedale

Sat 4th June 2022

Every Saturday, there is a large car boot sale in Bedale. Arranged by the local council, each week sees a different charity benefit from the stall rentals. Charities and other local organisations enter via a lottery process.

An excellent car boot sale it turned out to be, and many purchases later, we struggled to carry our haul back to the campsite, passing an old Post Office Morris Minor van on there way.

We returned to explore the town centre after some lunch, on the way passing the old school, which is apparently soon to be up for sale:

We also passed the old public water pump:

Shops all line a wide high street with the parish church at the head. There are some excellent independent retailers, and in a similar way to Thirsk, they had made a considerable effort to decorate the town centre to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

Sounds more like problems with an il-fitting undergarment

Near the entrance, is the tomb of Brian Fitz Alan, Lord of Bedale, died 1306:

Oh ..er Mrs!!!

The central heating pipes go around this pair:

I wonder why they need their feet to be kept warm.
