We spent the day travelling in a northerly direction with the intention of heading for a route over the Pyrenees. On route to our next overnight at La Granja de Escarp, we called in briefly at Alcañiz to pick up some provisions.
Alcañiz
Our first glimpse of the town was from a viewpoint, around 5kms away. We stopped to look at a hermitage, on a hill by the side of the road, which afforded some good views.

Olives appear to be the main crop in this area, which has resulted in some interesting terracing patterns on the landscape.

Some road closures meant that it was difficult to stop and explore Alcañiz, but I did manage to snatch this photo after some confusion regarding navigation:

La Granja de Escarp
There were some interesting landscapes to be seen on our onward journey, but only a few opportunities to stop and take photographs. Near a place called the Tres Tuneles, we pulled-up behind Jeeves and Michelle:

Further along our route, we stopped opposite the Castell de Mequinensa which looks pristine, as if it is either newly built or has been restored extensively.

Hydro-electric power is used extensively in this area and one of the old turbines sits alongside the road here, spinning no more.

In traveling north, we had lost the warm and sunny weather. The sky was becoming distinctly moody:

Staying with a motorhome
Our park-up for the night was the town motorhome aire, at the small town of La Granja de Escarp. Good facilities are provided, with 1€ being required for 30 minutes water. Jeeves obtained a token from a local cafe for 2€ for electricity, but sadly it did not work, but I think other motorhomes had connected successfully to different hook-up points.

There is room for 10 motorhomes, there were eight when we stayed, the last two would have blocked the view:
