Sunday 6th October 2024 (day 23)
Crossing the border from Italy to Slovenia, we are staying the night at a motorhome aire at Bled, a small resort town with a beautiful lake and an 11th century castle. Along the way, we passed some spectacular scenery:

We were unable to take the motorhome up to the castle. The footpath was steep and seemed very muddy underfoot, so setting off up the road from the George Best Bar…

….we walked up the road which was, perhaps, not quite as steep. In doing so, we felt quite vulnerable at times as there was no pavement and the traffic passing, included tourist coaches. When we arrived, however, we were treated to some fine views:

The castle was quite small, but there were some interesting buildings:

The museum with some finds from the bronze age including bronze axes and this highly worked gold object:

The highlights also include a collection of tobacco pipes:

There is a very small chapel:

Later, we took a bike ride along the lake shore and took a few photographs from the other side of the lake:

Fair to say, Bled is an impressive location. Tomorrow, we plan to move further north. TTFN.
