We decided to temporarily part company with Jeeves, Michelle and Layla and head south west towards a small, picturesque town, Torre de Moncorvo which has an off-road cycle/footpath on the course of an old railway. We had read good reviews of the path, the Ecopista do Sabor.

As we travelled towards Torre de Moncorvo, the terrain became more hilly and in places, dramatic, so of course we stopped to take a closer look. We also passed some lakes and high bridges.

Nature was also in evidence:

Our park-up for the night is alongside the town swimming pool. Good facilities, at the top of a hill, and all free of charge, including toilets and showers. The area is on a bit of a slope, but not too bad.

The Ecopista do Sabor runs through the town, both to the east and west. We chose to ride east, which heads out to some pleasant countryside and other nearby villages.

We also noticed a large number of electricity pylons, which were of varying design and unlike those found at home. Call me a geek, but I could not resist taking photos of some of them:

Being on the course of an old railway line, there is some of the old infrastructure remaining, including the station and platform at Larinho.

We covered about 10 kilometres, all uphill, before taking a break at a village cafe for a beer. It was a great ride back as we hardly needed to turn a pedal.

Thats it for now. TTFN.
