Today was really about the journey further north. We plan to spend a couple of nights near to Lisbon, so we are heading to an area just south of Portugal’s capital with a view to travelling in for the day tomorrow. Our first choice of site, was unfortunately closed, so we have opted for a park-up at Seixal Corroios, close to rail links to the city. But first, I think I need to mention last night’s site, Alentejo Litoral Caravan Park.
Alentejo Litoral Caravan Park:
I do not normally make a feature of our stop-over venues, but this is an exception. The Alentejo Litoral Caravan Park is rustic and rural. We are parked in a small wooded area, with cork oaks around.

There is a really positive laid-back hippy vibe about the place and the stars are the animals, kept in a large adjacent enclosure. There are two ostriches (who are caring for 4 eggs), hens, geese, small pigs and goats. There were also, unfortunately, mosquitos flying around as dusk fell, enjoying a good munch of us all.

We really enjoyed the site and the owner, Pedro, is a real genuine character who made us feel very welcome, explaining his vision for the site. We would be happy to return there one day to see to see how he has progressed with his plans.
The Journey to Seixal Corroios:
Our journey to Seixal Corroios took us through pleasant countryside, with in many places, dreadful roads full of potholes. At times, I felt that as I was driving along, I was playing some sort of old computer game, dodging bombs dropped from flying saucers. Some were just too big to avoid. We chose to travel from Carvalhal to Setúbal, across the Rio Sado, using the ferry, which was very pleasant and gave a 30 minute break from driving.

Seixal Corroios:
Seixal Corroios is a residential area for Lisbon, so it has good transport links including trams and trains. The tram, in conjunction with the ferry looks to be a good option for tomorrow.

The motorhome park-up has space for around 30 vans, but it seemed full when we arrived. Jeeves and Michelle, had occupied what seemed to be the last space, but they kindly moved up for us to share it.

There is a clear advantage sometimes, to having a smaller motorhome.
That is all for now. See u later. TTFN.
