Today, we have headed back to the coast, this time to the Spanish north coast and the lovely fishing village of Espasante, where we will be spending the night on the quayside, overlooking the sea (for free). There are no services, but this is a recognised park-up for motorhomes.

Our route took us quite high over some hilly areas, at one time reaching 680 metres above sea level. There were loads of these huge alien, three-armed creatures, standing high on every hill-top and ridge, manically waving their arms around in the wind.

Espasante is on a headland and as a result, it has several beautiful beaches, all were deserted when we were there.

There are a few bar/cafes but most seem to be closed, however I think we may have been a little early. It is quite a picturesque/colourful place in a quirky way:

We had a walk around the headland, taking the quite strenuous path along the cliff-tops. The views were amazing, but we also saw some interesting buildings along the way.

We firstly found this low-walled structure, but it is difficult to decide what its purpose is. I have seen broadly similar in the UK, used for sheep management, but there does not seem to be any sheep here.

Further on, there is this small house with really thick walls. It has a couple of seaward-facing windows and a hearth. The roof is made of stone covered by earth and there are places in the wall, where candles have been burned. Some were still there.

Not a church or historic town in sight, today. Just beautiful views in a very peaceful setting. That is all. See u Later, TTFN.
