As I hinted in yesterday’s blog post, the journey to Riaño was challenging and exciting, all the more for driving a motorhome. We stayed overnight at Riaño, having a wander around before moving on to Potes, another “interesting” journey, reaching an altitude of 1609 metres at the highest point.
Riaño:
Our road to Riaño showed us some beautiful scenery and we were occasionally able to stop and take photographs, including at this adventure site:

The small town of Riaño sits alongside a huge reservoir, created with a dam which we did not see.

Riaño is a new town, built completely from scratch as the old, original town sits beneath the surface of the reservoir, near the viaduct.

We were treated to some spectacular view as we were leaving:

Potes:
Our journey to Potes once more provided some amazing views. We stopped at the top, in a car-park, and had a brew. I know that water boils at a lower temperature at altitude, but to be honest we did not notice.

We were surrounded by cloud at times, but not too bad as we could always see our way ahead.

Potes is a bit of a tourist hot-spot, but to be fair, it is very pretty with many medieval buildings and high river bridges:

The church is wide, and like the church in Villaviciosa, with Roman arches over the nave and aisles, giving a sense of space.

We are spending the night at a small private motorhome area which has cost 12 €. Good facilities and nice views, but guess what …it is raining again.
That is all for today. See u Later and TTFN.

Stunning scenery
