We are continuing our journey northwards through the Moselle Valley and called today to explore the extremely pretty town of Bernkastel-Kues on the recommendation of a German couple we met whilst cycling.




The town square is amazingly beautiful with very ornate buildings.

There are some shackles on the wall of the Rathaus. An interesting remnant of medieval times.






















The town is right alongside the river, which has clearly flooded periodically over time, as the various marks on the corner of this building indicate. 1993 is the highest mark:


As we left, we saw a Grey Heron and an Egyptian Goose on a landing stage:
