We called at Hanbury Hall on our way home from the Gloucestershire trip as a way of breaking up the journey.
The hall was built in the 18th century by Thomas Vernon, a wealthy lawyer on land owned by his family. Built in the Queen Anne style, the building is a grade I listed building, now owned and managed by the National Trust.
The house has a mix of impressive elaborately decorated rooms and more homely accommodation.
Many rooms have painted ceilings, mostly by the English painter Sir James Thornhill, who most famously painted the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral in London and ceilings at Blenheim Palace.

Visiting with a Motorhome:
No major problems. The hall has a large car park with plenty of room for motorhomes. Access is via country lanes, but passable with care.

Lovely place. National Trust membership is definitely worth it.
