Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, A Grand Day Out.

Tuesday 9th September 2025

Along with a couple of mates, David and Rob, we travelled by train to the lovely town of Hebden Bridge. Our sole stated purpose was photographic, although coffee and cake would also find its way onto the agenda.

Some buildings are a bit pointy.

Hebden Bridge Railway station is one of those wonderfully ornate structures, built of cast iron and stone. Very reminiscent of the age of steam.

The town sits astride both the River Calder and the Rochdale Canal. It quite a “hippy” vibe and many of the canal boats are highly decorated and/or dilapidated.

Some of the best views of the town are from the canal towpath.

Hebden Bridge sits in a steep-sided valley and it is s stiff climb out.

The steps up this path are seriously steep.

The town centre has a pedestrianised area with a number of food outlets.

There are also some old and ornate building which are clearly remnants of when the wool trade was at its height.

That is it for now. TTFN and See-u-later.
