Cochem, Moselle, Germany.

Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st October 2025

Another stop on our way north through the Moselle valley. We stayed for a couple of nights, about 100 metres or so from the river, and about 3.5 miles from Cochem, on a motorhome aire belonging to a vineyard. As a result, on both evenings, (after tasting of course) we were able to enjoy a nice glass of red Mosel wine whilst sat outside the vineyard shop, with a number of other “guests”. Very enjoyable.

The castle looks down from a considerable height.

So on Tuesday, we cycled into Cochem and spent much of the day there. It is another pretty, medieval town but we found it to be busier with other tourists than we were used to. It is one of the regular stops for the river cruise liners and there were several docked there.

A shop selling traditional dress. We were not tempted, though I think Mrs K would have looked quite fetching in the women’s costume.

We also took a ride on a chair-lift (a bit scary, but we survived), which enabled fine views across the countryside and down at the town.

…and the view upstream.

High above the town, there is a cross which we visited:

The restaurant has a “pig” theme. This huge one next to the road, had a real euphonium. Not sure why.

After returning to the vineyard, we enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant which was just around the corner. Cheers!

Pork medallions for Alison and Ricotta ravioli for me.

That is all for today, TTFN and see-u-later.
