We are visiting the steam rally as part of the Camping and Caravanning Photo Group who have organised a meet here.
The Worcester to Birmingham Canal:
Stoke Prior is just south of Bromsgrove and just alongside the rally field, the Birmingham to Worcester canal passes. When the canal was being built in 1791, some salt springs were discovered and the canal was used to transport salt from the subsequent developed works at Stoke Prior.
The canal has a total of 58 locks and climbs 130 metres from Worcester to Birmingham. This includes the 30 Tardebigge Locks, which are just above the 6 lock, Stoke Prior flight.
The Tardebigge Locks are the longest flight of locks in the UK and amongst the longest in Europe.
Stoke Prior Steam Rally:
The steam rally was held over the weekend of the 19th and 20th September, with many exhibits arriving on the Friday.
We saw a range of steam and vintage vehicles…
…in addition to many working scale models including one belonging to Stuart, a member of the CCC Photo Group:
There were also many craft stalls, one selling some interestingly named pickles:
Alison visited a caravan (a converted railway carriage?):
On the Saturday evening, the fairground lit-up and there was entertainment in the beer tent, until late!
On Sunday, there were many more vintage and veteran vehicles with a visit from local car clubs. I only took a few photos:

We chose to visit a pub along the canal, “The Boat and Railway” for Sunday lunch, where we had an excellent carvery.
